A chemistry class at Compton College has put our BRIGHT Atom kits to use: their first time was November 2024, and their second time has been Februarly 2025. Students in a beginners’ chemistry course used round tiles to arrange protons and neutrons and electrons to make models of some elements of their choice from the Periodic Table of Elements. It’s a more engaging way to learn about atomic structure, especially for the non-science majors in the class. Would work great also for middle school and high school. The “Teacher Atom” mounts onto a door or wall, and the “Student Atom” is a round, plastic box with slots for the subatomic particles. The Student Atom has a lid, and atoms can be built onto the lid OR onto the underside of the box.
